update on... yoga room?

hi all!  i am happy to report i'm feeling soooo much better than last weekend and back up to [most of] my usual tricks!  i'm healing slowly but surely and it will still be a little while til i am feeling totally 100% normal, but i'll take this little victory of not having taken any pain killers all weekend so far!  it's definitely summer here and our AC-free house is turning into a sweat lodge.  ugh.

after lots of work, we are finally done with the living room!  i'm so so so excited with how it's turned out.  just last weekend i posted that we took a little trip up to one of my favorite stores and bought an awesome new piece.  it's finally up and it's the perfect finishing touch of the living room!

so there it is!  the best part - it's just little clips that hold up the pictures/coasters/books/postcards/menu from our wedding, so we can change them as many times as we want!  and knowing how bored i get with my surroundings... it will be often.

the top half of our awesome find, with pictures from a bunch of our trips,
postcards we used as save-the-dates for our wedding, coasters from some
european pubs we love...
the bottom half, with the cocktail menu from our wedding reception, an
old wine label, snapshots from prague, my parents at a college dance, and
a book called 'secret love letters and the legend of the lovers from prague,'
and a picture philip drew :)

i LOVE it!  it's perfect for the rest of the room.  and speaking of the rest of the room, here's our finished living room!  we also finally picked the photos to hang up in the dining room - and most of them weren't even ones i posted.  once i shared the idea with philip he had some really good ideas to share and we ended up using some of those.

top row, from L to R: london, marrakech, granada, rome, istanbul and madrid

and, to top off the awesomeness of the dining room, we figured out what to do with the upstairs room!  see, we have two guest rooms upstairs.  and if i'm being honest... not that many people come and visit.  so i have one guest room all decked out, painted, with a gorgeous antique bed and vintage couch in it.  but we just haven't figured out what to do with the second room.  first it was a library: we had our pull out couch in there, our bookshelves, and it was a place for philip and i to read and philip to smoke his cigars.  we only used it about two times.  so then we decided to move the office from downstairs to upstairs.  that was never used and became a receptacle from all kinds of crap that we didn't want to carry downstairs, for example our old bathtub, which was just moved out from that room to the alley today.  so since we don't want to buy a bunch of furniture for the room since we don't know what we will use it for...

YOGA ROOM!  philip painted it dark green last spring when it was a library.  the rug was in my mom's basement and goes perfectly with the paint.  there's a fan, some candles, a room screen, yoga ball and some candles (and some funny postcards of cats doing yoga).  yeah, it's a little reminiscent of when my i was little and we lived in pittsburgh - we had a whole room on the first floor that was totally empty, but my mom told us that it was our run-around room, and my brother and i would literally run around in circles in that room.  i had no clue that it was because my parents couldn't afford to furnish the room but i loved it anyway.  that's kind of what the yoga room is.  a cheap solution to an empty room.  and, i do love me some yoga, and need to shed a few pounds.  this will definitely help.  when i try to do yoga now i basically have to rearrange the living room.  not to mention philip sits on the couch or at the table and watches me, which is very un-zen-like.  i have a little television that we will put in there and a DVD player we'll hook up sometime this weekend.

we are doing a little bit more backyard work tomorrow - so i'll try to post some final pics.  my mother-in-law is coming on thursday (yay!!!) so we are trying to make sure the house is at it's best for her!  for now, i need to go get myself dressed... we are hosting game night tonight!  i'll actually try to take some pictures tonight... but have a great weekend!

until next time... xoxo
